“平昌”名字的来历

平昌原名江口，巴河上游通江、南江两江的汇口，故名为江口。为什么又叫平昌?因为晋武帝太康元年(280年)置平州县，因流人平昌的通江河原名平州河，故以水为名;北周静帝大象二年(580年)改置同昌县，后废。1948年复置县时，取古县名平州、同昌首尾各一字得名。
